Daryk Cochran now enters his 28th season as a Wrestling Coach, his 2 nd year at Villa Rica High School. He has compiled 442 dual victories, coached 223 State Qualifiers, 84 State Placers, 19 State Champions and 51 All-Americans, and 33 Academic All-Americans. Coach Cochran’s teams have won 17 County titles, 18 Region titles, and have earned 15 State Wrestling Trophies including the 2017 6A Dual State Championships, The 2017 6A Traditional State Championship,
and the 2010 4A Traditional State Championship. Cochran Girls Wrestling Teams have been just as successful finishing state runner-up 4 times (2019,2020,2021,2022). Daryk Cochran has been a 5X Area Coach of the Year, and was selected as the 2014 NWCA Georgia Asst. Coach of the Year. Coach Cochran has served as a Team GA National Team Coach since 1998. After finishing up his eligibility as a college wrestler at UT-Chattanooga Daryk Cochran served as an assistant coach for UTC for the 1996-1997 season, helping coach 2 Conference Champions, 2 NCAA National Qualifiers, and a 4th place finish at the Southern Conference Championships.
Coach Cochran attended The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (’92- ’96) on a wrestling scholarship where he was a 3-year starter, Team Captain, 3X conference placer, the 1995 Southern Conference Champion, member of the 1995 All-Conference Team, NCAA Div. I National Qualifier, and earned a national ranking as high as 9th in NCAA Div. I. UTC won 3 Southern Conference Championships while Coach Cochran was a member of the team. Coach Daryk Cochran is a 1991 graduate of Woodbridge High School (VA) where he wrestled for Hall of Fame Coach Richard Hillary. Cochran was a 2X state placer, Winning the 1990 Virginia
AAA State title. Cochran was the 1990 Area Wrestler of the year, 2X Washington Post All-Met Team selection, AAU Freestyle & Greco All-American, and was a nationally ranked high school senior with a career record of 103-18-1. Cochran was a member of a 2X VA 3A State Runner-up Team. Coach Daryk Cochran lives in Villa Rica GA with his wife Carrie and their three children, Hayes, Elizabeth, and Spencer. Coach Cochran is the Fine Arts Teacher at Villa Rica High School.
