Congratulations to Shifali Patel, who was named VRHS' 2012 STAR Student. Shifali currently holds a 4.2553 GPA at VRHS, where she is a member of the Beta Club, Student Government Association, Spanish Club, Spanish Honor Society, FBLA, Science Club, and the Academic Decathlon Team. Shifali recently completed the REACH Program at the University of West Georgia in scientific research, and she is the recipient of an Academic Letter, the Citizenship Award, and the Woodsmen of the World APUSH Award. As for her future plans, Patel is going to attend the University of Georgia where she will major in either Biology or Chemistry. Shifali chose Mrs. Nancy Hasbun as her STAR Teacher. Mrs. Hasbun, a Chemistry and Physics teacher at VRHS, received her Bachelors Degree from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, her Masters Degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and she received her teaching certificate from the University of West Georgia. Mrs. Hasbun has introduced many exciting activities to her students at VRHS, including the annual favorite, Mole Day.
