VRHS Girls Weight Lifting Competition

The VRHS Girls Weightlifting Team competed at the GACA State Meet on Saturday. As a team, they placed 3rd Overall with many earning individual championships. Carsyn Baird (9th Grade), Kenadi Aker (12th Grade) and Montana Yancey (10th Grade) were named State Champions of their individual weight classes. Additionally, individual winners include: Avery Bell (2nd Place), Haley Olds (3rd Place), Javonne Cook (3rd Place), Tatyana Chester (5th Place), Roniya Elliott (5th Place), Kinsley Walls (6th Place), Addie Orr (6th Place), Addy Baird (6th Place), Posh Daniell (7th Place), Mackinzy Crowe (8th Place), and Lyric Oliver-Poole (8th Place). Kenadi Aker was recognized as the Pound for Pound Champion. This is the 2nd year that VRHS has had a girls team to compete at the State Level. Coach Cody Skinner is proud of the culture change that he has seen in the last 2 years within this program. "We have seen the girls get excited about lifting weights and getting stronger, and we have seen their hard work pay off in the weight room as well as in their other sports," Skinner said.
