Bio

Jennifer Harris has always had a passion and love for cultures, languages, and people’s stories. As such, she studied social studies education at the University of Georgia graduating in 2012.  Desiring to serve at-risk students, she accepted a position at Lithia Springs High School in Lithia Springs, GA where she served as World History teacher.

After that, she moved closer to home and began teaching at Central High School in Carrollton, GA. At this juncture, Jennifer taught AP English Language, World Literature, American Literature, and United States History. Additionally, Jennifer was chosen as a Gilder Lehrman Summer Institute Scholar and was able to travel to Montana to study the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

In 2016, she took an opportunity to return full time to the Social Studies department and transferred to Villa Rica High School in Villa Rica, GA. Here, she led the World History team for a year and then began leading the U.S. History team. During the year of 2017-2018, Jennifer became the coordinator for the International Skills Diploma Seal program for her school. She also participated in the GLISI teacher leader cohort and won a Bright Ideas Grant from Carroll EMC. At the end of the school year she was named both Social Studies department head and also Teacher of the Year for her school.

Lastly, in 2019, she was selected to be a part of the prestigious E3 Innovators team that provides professional learning for Carroll County teachers.  She currently resides in Carrollton, GA near her wonderful family but travels every chance she gets to continue to interact with and experience new cultures and countries! She was recently engaged and will be marrying the love of her life in 2020!
