Bio
Ms. Phelps graduated from the University of West Georgia in May 2020 with a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature with a concentration in Spanish. Her love for languages stems from her own home, where her mother spoke both German and English to her as she grew up. When she was in high school, she started to realize the importance of knowing Spanish, so she studied abroad in Heredia, Costa Rica during college where her love for the Spanish language only grew.
Going to Costa Rica not only taught Ms. Phelps about another culture, but it also taught her quite a bit about her own and the role she plays in it. Her eyes were opened to the benefits of learning Spanish and the importance of cultural self-awareness, and she hopes to share this with her students this year.
In her free time, Ms. Phelps loves doing anything outdoors, traveling, playing Animal Crossing on her switch, and hanging out with her turtle, Pepe. :)
