United States Academic Decathlon®
The United States Academic Decathlon® is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students.
Each high school enters a team of nine students: 3 "A" or Honor students (3.750 - 4.00 GPA), 3 "B" or Scholastic students (3.00 - 3.749 GPA), and 3 "C or below" Varsity students (0.00 - 2.999 GPA).
The theme for the 2019-2020 Academic Decathlon® is In Sickness and in Health.
April 30, 2019
A big congratulations to our Academic Decathlon team! They competed nationally in April of 2020 and ranked 55th out of all 70+ teams that were there, both nationally and internationally (the UK and China: we outscored all of the UK teams and half of the teams from China) putting Villa Rica High School, Carroll County, and the state of Georgia on the map. We had two award winners: Heather Cook was awarded MVP and Ruth Miles was awarded highest scoring team member. Both girls were awarded a $250 scholarship! As we bring a close to our season, we would like to thank our team for all of their hard work, and we would like you to join us in the 2019-2020 season as we prepare to learn the new topic (In Sickness and in Health), as well as preparing to hopefully compete in Anchorage, Alaska!
