 Dear Students and Parents of our Junior and Senior classes:

As sponsors of the Junior class, it is our privilege to inform you about this year’s prom. The location/time of this year’s prom is as follows:


Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Atlanta

 Saturday, April 21st, 2012

 7:00 to 11:00 pm

FAQS

·         I’m a Senior and did not pay my Junior dues in full last year. Can I still attend the prom this year?

Seniors who wish to attend the prom this year and did not pay their prom dues in full last year as a Junior will be expected to pay prom dues IN FULL this year. (Please note: “Prom Dues” are different than “Senior Dues”.)


·         If I attended another school last year do I have to pay prom dues?


Transfer students who are Juniors or Seniors are still expected to pay prom dues if they plan on attending the prom.


·         Can my parents write a check to pay for my dues?



Cash, money orders and checks are acceptable forms of payment.  We will not accept checks after April 13th , 2012. Only cash or money orders will be accepted after that date, due to check and accounting clearance.


·         Can I pay in installments?             Absolutely!


·         Will I receive a receipt for my paid dues? Yes. A written receipt will be provided for each payment made.


·         If I pay my Junior Dues, will I have to pay to go to the prom next year as a Senior?


Juniors who pay prom dues this year will NOT be expected to pay prom dues as a Senior.


·         Why does the prom responsibility fall on the Junior class?


Seniors have many other expenses related to Senior year:  cap & gown, testing costs, application fees, Senior portraits, dues, invitations, etc… Therefore, it has been a tradition for the Junior class to fund the Prom. However, if you do not contribute as a Junior, you will have to pay as a Senior if you decide to attend.


·         How much are prom dues?


If you pay by Friday, March 30th, 2012, the total amount due is $100. If you pay on or after Monday, April 9th, the total amount due is $120. The fee for bringing a non-VRHS Junior/Senior date is $25.


You can pay your prom dues to Mrs. Porter or Ms. Whittington. Both of us are located on the top floor of the Ninth Grade Academy. (Rooms 915 and 912)


·        
If my friend or sweetheart from VRHS goes to prom with me, can I hitch a ride on THEIR prom ticket?


NO! Each Junior/Senior is responsible for his/her OWN financial obligations regarding prom. The only exception is if the Junior or Senior’s prom date is an underclassman (9th or 10th grade), then the date fee would apply for the underclassman. Otherwise, it is not fair to those who have paid their dues.


·         What if my date attends another school or is out of school already?


VRHS students will be expected to provide the name of their outside date on a security list. This list will be managed by Ms. Porter and Ms. Whittington. Dates must be at least 15 years old, but not older than 21 as of April 21, 2012 to attend prom. A proof of age must be shown when paying dues. A copy of a drivers’ license or State-issued ID would be acceptable. At the entrance of the prom, picture IDs will be checked again to ensure a safe and elegant affair. NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED UNLESS THEY’RE ON THE LIST!


·         What if I have paid my prom dues and have been placed in out-of-school suspension?


Students who are on out-of-school suspension during the time surrounding the prom are NOT allowed to attend. There will be no refunds.


·         Can I be on the prom committee?


Yes! We need dedicated and enthusiastic Junior class volunteers to attend prom committee meetings. The core of our committee will consist of your elected Junior class officers through SGA.


            What else will I need to consider as I’m planning for the prom?


If you have outstanding school debts (library fines, book holds, etc.), you MUST clear them first (see Ms. Pam Davidson in the front office) before you can go to the prom. Also, picture packages will be available for purchase and payment is due at the prom. Information about the package prices will be distributed closer to the date of the prom.
