This year marks my 26th start of school as a professional educator. I am proud to say that 20 of those years have been at VRHS, my Alma Mater.  I am certified to teach history, economics, political science, behavioral sciences, and geography. I also hold special endorsements in gifted education and am a teacher support specialist. I am certified through the College Board to teach Advanced Placement World History, U.S. History, and Psychology.

During my career I have been honored to be named STAR teacher five times, system STAR teacher once, and Teacher of the Year.

I am a 1979 graduate of Villa Rica High School, and after 12 years of traveling, I returned to Villa Rica with my family.  I have a daughter, Beth Hardegree Shaw, a 2001 graduate of VRHS, who lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, LTC Derrick Shaw, and my three adorable grandchildren, Lilly, Anna, and Liam.  I have a son, SGT Michael Christopher Hardegree, a 2004 graduate of VRHS, who died in Baghdad, Iraq on September 10, 2007 while serving with 82nd Airborne Division in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  I spend much of my free time volunteering to serve our nation's veterans through American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. I am a past National President of this organization, and currently serve as Department President for Georgia.
