VRHS Academic Decathlon Team Takes 3rd Place in State Competition

Villa Rica High School Academic Decathlon team represented VRHS and Carroll County at the Academic Decathlon State Competition over the weekend, taking 3rd place against the top 24 teams in the state which fielded the top 200 students in Georgia.  
Individual Medals were awarded to  the following students:
David Brooks: Silver in Science and Math and a gold medal in speech-David placed in the top ten in every subject area in the state.
Katie Moss: Silver in Essay-Katie finished in the top ten in science, art and essay.
Dahlia Del Angel: Gold in Literature and a silver in interview. Dahlia finished in the top five in literature, music, science, art and interview.
Brendan Porter: Silver in science and a gold in literature. Brendan finished in the top five in literature, science, art, and economics.
Ansley Couch: Bronze in literature and a gold in science. Ansley finished in the top five in literature, science, art and econimics. and in the top ten in music, mathematics and interview.
Emma Sumner earned a bronze in essay.  Emma also finished in the top five in literature and essay and in the top ten in science and mathematics.

Jacob Hall finished in the top five in literature, science and art. He finished in the top ten in mathematics, economics and essay.

Kaitlyn Jones finished in the top ten in art.
Vanessa Bagwell finished in the top ten in literature.
The team is coached by Cynthia Cox, Sarah Triplett and Russell Bennett.
